Letter to Editor: Farewell but thanks to Linkfest for the memories

Dear Editor,
It was an honour and a privilege not only to attend but perform at the final Linkfest over the Bank Holiday weekend.
Walking around the site in our beautiful town park I had a sense not of sadness but happiness that the town’s biggest party has done so much over the past 10 years to bring us all together in Harlow in such stunning surroundings.
It was an enormous pleasure to see so many familiar faces after the shattering 18 months we’ve been through because of the pandemic and the fact that the acoustic tent was bursting all day shows the local music scene in Harlow is in very good health.
I think over the past decade Linkfest has taught us more about our identity as a town, who we are and what we want to be, an inclusive and forward looking community and a lot of the stalls over the years have reflected social concerns in amongst the partying.
Now the festival takes its rightful place in the pantheon of great gigs to have taken place at the Bandstand and will influence and inspire every bit as much as those concerts did.
Deepest thanks to all that made this possible over the years, everyone who organised, watched, performed and enjoyed.
Linkfest is Harlow and Harlow is Linkfest.
Kind regards,
Jo Dunne
