How violent is life in and around the Little Parndon part of Harlow?

OVER the last few weeks, we have reported on a number of violent incidents in the Hodings Road area of Harlow.
Hodings Road runs from Fourth Avenue to the Fifth Avenue estate in Harlow.
There has been two reports of two machete attacks, a vehicle drove into a house and another report of a hit and run.
The more we start to dig, the more we start to find more reports of crime.
So we thought we would start off by going into the police database at www.police.uk and extracted the following information for the area.
We may have to take into account that this is just the crimes that were reported. What the true figure is, we can only guess.
We are aware of all large number of Harlow residents who have simply given up with the police and feel that their perceived lack of robust action has virtually “decriminalised” a number of criminal offences.
We must also stress that this is just a snapshot.
On Sunday, we will publish responses from an Essex Police Superintendent, Harlow MP Robert Halfon, Harlow Council leader Andrew Johnson and two Little Parndon councillors.

As the local councillor for this area,am disturb reviewing this figures but we don’t know how these compare with any other areas in the town. We as councillor are aware of regular offenders who will have appeared on these statistics one than once. My guess several times. What is clear is that residents should keep reporting regardless if they have lost confidence in the police system. Please be assured we do have very proactive community officers locally but reporting a crime is still a critical part of gaining a conviction. I know this area very well and know the vast majority of residents are caring supportive and community minded. It’s a shame this article has been published in this way but let’s take the positive about it opening a debate and hope we gain real and substantive change. We know we don’t have enough police in Harlow or anywhere due to political decision. The solution isn’t CCTV as advocated by the local Tory party. We want a full funded police service that is empowered to be available, visible and local to protect and prevent these type of activities. Can’t wait for the Tory spin on the truth

Hello Tony Duncan, I can’t take you seriously as you’ve resorted to being political. A serious crime is a crime. It doesn’t matter about resources. The Police should investigate and make arrests. Period.

It is a waste of time ringing the police they do nothing, your lucky if you see the police patrolling these areas, or they turn up hours later, and reporting incidents to the council about anti social behaviour is just a waste of a phone call ,this goes to Epping council too

Feed up with crime happy to confirm all crimes should be reported as this build evidence. Very supportive of my residents and will alway encourage them to report as otherwise we accept criminal behaviour. Hope this reassure you. Ps it’s Durcan

It’s absolutely diabolical, the shark pub should most certainly not have a licence for a start, all of this activity right by not one but two primary schools, you say your stretched for resources but as I got home to spring hills last night the police had pulled a group of lads to fine them for smoking a tiny amount of marijuana, it’s seems what you’re lacking is priorities and we’re all left wondering why we pay council tax any more

As the local councillor I would want the defend and support one of our local pubs The Shark.this is a well used and popular facility and is supportive of local community activity. The pub like the schools have been neighbour for decades and am not aware of any issues that can’t get resolved by talking to each other. We don’t know but I suspect many of the crimes reported have nothing to do either directly or indirectly with the pub or sale of alcohol. You could say the same for the co op or anywhere that sells alcohol. As one of the 3 Labour councillors we work with all local businesses and have a constructive relationship with them all. On this occasion I totally disagree with the last comment made by fed up.

Harlow isnt a safe place to live, when councils agree (for political gains) to let anyone rest their heads in our town there will only be one outcome....Unfortunately the Labour party has lost its identity and is no longer seen has any real opposition to the Conservative party.

Mr Taylor, what a simpleton you are. Rather than use mind numbing short sighted ill-informed comments that resemble that of a loose stool. It may be worth checking out the statistics for Harlow, although it is likely you are one of the unfortunate uneducated specimens who makes up some of the numbers for the poor statistics. Hence your uneducated response. I would argue it is not immergrants whp are the issue, rather the caliber of some parents/adults, you know, like you potentially. The issue in Harlow is not isolated to "immigrants", go educate your perfectic self and stop passing the blame when you have absolutely nothing to back up your shallow and ridiculous comments!
