Athletics: Harlow runners go the extra 568 metres to conquer Brighton Marathon

HARLOW Running Club had 14 runners at the Takeley 10k, a hilly trail race around the Essex village. First home was Rob Scott in 26th place out of 351 finishers in 45min 12sec. He was followed by Vicky Steadman 57th in 48.08, Paul Dixon 62nd in 48.34, Louise Peacock 77th in 49.43, a PB by over 8min, Robin Lozeau 144th and 3rd Vet 65 in 54.44, Mick Gleeson 202nd in 60.07, Jacobus van der Poel 216th in 60.57, Dan Finch 231st in 62.07, Pushpa Mistry 238th in 62.40, Teresa Warren 258th and 2nd Female Vet 60 in 64.11, Davina Smith 279th in 65.34, Ronald Peacock 305th in 67.59, Heidi Fox 313th in 68.52 and Jason Fox in 68.52.
Meanwhile, at the Brighton Marathon, which due to an error was 568 meters too long, Keith Streeter finished in 432nd place out of 7206 finishers in a superb 3hrs 29min 23sec in what was his debut at the distance. Janice Page was 3015th in 4.30.31, Steve Wright 4185th in 4.50.40, also his debut and Nick Ryley-Warren 9099th in 5.17.02 in his debut.
At the Wymondham 20 Mile race Colin Moody, in preparation for the London Marathon, finished in 96th place out of 241 finishers and 2nd Vet 65 in a fantastic 2.50.00, a new Vet 70 Club Record.
Several thousand miles away at the Cedar City Half Marathon, a multi-terrain race in Utah, Pas Blackwell finished in 6th place out of 545 finishers and 1st Vet 40 in an excellent 1.16.30, a new Half Marathon Club Record on his debut at the distance.
Leigh Brown joined over 50,000 runners at the Great North Run in Newcastle, the world’s biggest Half Marathon, finishing in 16,414th place in a time of 2.15.31.
Dave Goosetree completed the Havering Half Marathon in 195th place out of 456 finishers in 2.00.37.
At the Chase the Sun Olympic Park 10k Robert Foxley finished in 62nd place out of 188 finishers in 46.14.
At the Fyfield Footpath 5k Kirk Crudgington was victorious in 1st place out of 118 finishers in 20.24 and Antonella Crudgington was 67th in 39.40.
Debut Triathlete Jon Waight finished 28th out of 92 finishers and 3rd Vet 55 in the Hertfordshire Sports Village Sprint Triathlon (400m pool swim, 20k bike, 5k run) at Hatfield in 1.18.11.
At the same venue in the Aquathon (0.4km pool swim, 20km bike) Simon Morgans finished 1st out of 4 finishers in 45.28.
