Education: Secondary / Thu 16th Sep 2021 at 09:55am

COMPETITIVE school sport has made a welcome return in Harlow as St Mark’s travelled to St Nicholas’ for a Netball tournament in Old Harlow on Wednesday afternoon.

There was a great atmosphere down at St Nicholas’ as the teams played a number of very competitive matches.

But what was also on display was a great team spirit and sportsmanship from both schools.

The match report and comments are from representatives of both schools.

Year 7:

Match report by Amelie, Year 7 St Nicholas’

Team: Amelie, Eve, Annabel, Fleur, Darcy, Clemmie, India and Jessica.

On Wednesday, we played our first match of the school year against St
Mark’s.

St Mark’s really pushed us but our defence was strong and we scored
fairly early on due to Darcy, Jessica and Fleur also being strong in
attack ensuring we pushed the ball into our scoring third.

Great defence from Amelie, Eve and Annabel meant we held possession into the
2nd and 3rd quarter.

Clemmie and India worked hard to get possession of the ball and they scored some excellent goals from some difficult  angles.

Final score was 6-0 to Saint Nicholas.  The opposition’s player of the match went to Clemmie.

Miss Webster from St Mark’s said: Well done to our Year 7 Netball team for playing their first game against St Nicholas School.
