Essex Police raise awareness of hate crime in Harlow

THIS week is Hate Crime Awareness week. Essex Police will be engaging with Harlow residents regarding any issues around this and how to report hate crime incidents.
There have been more than 4800 hate crime offences in Essex in 2021, up by 27% on this time last year.
Please look out for our upcoming events throughout the week.
They will also be visiting different areas of Harlow. –
Tuesday 12th October 2021 – Street Meet Harvey Centre from 1000am-1200pm-
Wednesday 13th 2021 – Harlow College student engagement from 1000am-1400pm
A hate crime is defined as any incident, which is perceived by the victim, or any other person, to be motivated by hostility or prejudice, based on a personal characteristic – this can be disability, race, religion or belief, sexual orientation or gender identity.
