Harlow councillor calls for urgent action over roundabout

A HARLOW councillor has called for urgent action to improve the state of a roundabout in Harlow.
Toddbrook councillor Tony Edwards spoke to YH near the small roundabout on Fourth Avenue close to Wych Elm.
What about sorting out all the pot holes in Hatlow?
Absolutely Julie, you will need to get on to your County Councillors as the pot holes are an Essex County responsibility. I have lobbied them over the state of the roads and eventually they did repair the road that runs through the centre of Northbrooks. But elsewhere throughout the town the roads and foot paths are a disgrace. My reason for raising the issue of the roundabout is because I first raised the matter 4 years ago. It was repaired but it was then neglected and has been in this appalling state for nearly two years. I also have evidence of the times I have reported it to both the County Councillors and the District Council.
Surely its pointless to keep cutting the weeds down all the time it will still look scruffy. Harlow council should of had some input to the design of the roundabout. I wouldn't fancy running across a busy road with a lawnmower or wheel barrow full of tools
Anon - You're right, but my understanding is that they weren't consulted. I will be raising the matter at tonight's Cabinet meeting and hopefully we will get a constructive solution. (no pun intended)
The roundabout down near queen's Gate also needs attending to, it is so overgrown, and you can't see anything coming from the other sides. Reported it HCC and its not their issue, reported it to Essex CC who have said there is nothing wrong with it! You take your life into your hands when using that roundabout.
Tony-good luck with your quest, maybe there will be some left over materials from the market square improvements : )
The whole town is scruffy, full of potholes (caused damage to my car) and a ton of street lights that aren't working or damaged, exposing live wires and reported over a year ago remain unfixed. Trying to get anyone to accept responsibility for anything is difficult, getting stuff fixed is impossible. I've lived all over this country and Harlow Council and Essex Council are right up there as the worst to deal with in my experience.
Yes Essex County Council is responsible for repairing of roads and lighting Tory led they don't give a monkeys about Harlow.
As a member of the Environmental Service Improvement Team this roundabout was discussed many times from July 2016 but it was like pushing water uphill to get the relevant parties to take positive action. I'm sure this would not have been tolerated for as long as this, if this eyesore was sited outside County Hall.
The whole of Harlow is a disgrace.
It was discussed at the Harlow Council Cabinet meeting - Conservative Councillor Alastair Gunn stated in reply to the question I asked "It has never been practicable to carry out landscape works on the roundabout at the junction of Fourth Avenue and Northgate due to its design as access cannot be obtained safely without closing the road to traffic. The Council is in discussion with Essex County Council regarding the most appropriate means of resolving this issue. Discussions are currently underway with regard to installing hard surfacing on the roundabout to prevent future maintenance requirements". So we will see, I hope after all this time they are now able to speedily arrive at a satisfactory resolution to this problem which has gone on for far too long.
Not forgetting the growing number of used road work signage lying around the town in their frames and sand bags that despite being reported to ECC are ignored. Also the round about close to the Water Gardens has been in a worse state for years than the one highlighted. ECC unfit for purpose.
The roundabout at gates is disgusting it has never been finished since the road improvements where finished Weeds only that’s what we have
