Stewards Academy students inspired by visit to Cambridge University

STEWARDS Academy was absolutely delighted to be invited to the prestigious Cambridge University Emmanuel College. A number of Year 9 students and two staff members, Mr Laing and Mrs Bailey, embarked on a trip to Cambridge university to participate in an “Experience Day”.
On arrival, there was a presentation on everything to do with going to University including entry requirements, the application process, the interview, and how to manage student finances.
We were then treated to a tour of the Emmanuel College campus (in glorious autumn weather) and were shown the sights before having a delicious lunch.
Following lunch, the students participated in an activity based around the very current topic of Climate Change and there were some really mature, thought provoking and interesting ideas generated by these young people, with the debate that followed being truly outstanding.
After the activity we were given the opportunity to talk to a number of Cambridge University ‘Ambassadors’ who talked us through some of their experiences since joining Cambridge University; this was a real eye opener for our pupils, and they really appreciated this opportunity.
A fantastic day and experience were had by all. Well done, Team Stewards! We look forward to some of our current students securing a place at Cambridge in the future.
