Athletics: Duathlon success for Harlow Running Club’s Vicky and Rob

HARLOW Running Club were represented at the World Sprint Duathlon Championships in Alives, Spain, at the weekend which consisted of a 5k run, 21.2k bike ride and 2.8k run. Rob Lowe finished in 13th place out of 43 finishers in the Vet 50 category in an excellent time of 1hr 07min 47sec. This included a PB and Club Record in the 5k run. Vicky Steadman was 10th out of 18 finishers in the Female Vet 45 category, also in excellent time, of 1.20.47. Vicky also achieved a PB and Club Record in the 5k run, a record that has stood since 2002.

Meanwhile, at the Roding Valley Half Marathon at Woodford Green Kathrine Foy finished in 40th place out of 152 finishers in a superb 1.41.02.

At the Hertfordshire Half Marathon, which starts and finishes in front of the iconic Knebworth House, scene of major open air concerts, Mark Unwin finished in 402nd place out of 1068 finishers in 1.54.28, Gary Mead was 450th in 1.54.35 and Janice Page 522nd in 1.58.12.

In the 10k event at the same location, Debbie Cooper was 448th out of 736 finishers in 1.02.17.

Victoria Park also comprised a half marathon and 10k event. In the Half Marathon Lix Coxall finished in 273rd place out of 280 finishers in a PB time of 2.30.01.

In the 10k event Jack Shury was 5th out of 287 finishers in a PB time of 35.57.

At the Billericay Striders 10k Robert Foxley finished in 86th place out of 607 finishers in a PB time of 43.28.
