A MAN was detained by police and taken to hospital after a car failed to stop between Harlow and Sawbridgeworth on Wednesday evening (Nov 10).

The incident resulted in the main A1184 Harlow Road south of Sawbridgeworth being closed for several hours from its junction with High Wych Road to Riverside Business Park, near the Harlow Mill Beefeater.

Motorist Rami Barhoumi, who came across the aftermath, told Your Harlow: “There were several police cars and a police van, as well as an ambulance, at the scene, and drivers were being instructed to take alternative routes.”

Mr Barhoumi added that a car had been abandoned opposite the entrance to Riverside Business Park.

An Essex Police spokesperson said: “A vehicle failed to stop for officers in Cambridge Road, Harlow, at around 7.35pm on Wednesday.

“It came to stop in Beech Drive, Sawbridgeworth, a short time later. A man was detained and taken to hospital for injuries sustained when the vehicle came to a stop.”
