HARLOW’S MP, Robert Halfon, has expressed strong support for all staff at Princess Alexandra Hospital following the CQC report.
He said: “I have visited our hospital many times as a patient, visitor and as MP and I have nothing but huge admiration for every member of staff: the consultants, doctors, nurses, midwives, porters, cleaners, admin and ancillary staff.
“The CQC report shows that whilst there are areas that require changes, the inspection rating remains unchanged, in spite of the extreme and unprecedented pressures the hospital has faced through the coronavirus pandemic. The hospital staff displayed courage beyond measure in the face of the pandemic, saving many lives and this cannot be forgotten.
“It’s worth noting that PAH has amongst the highest A & E figures in England and recruitment can be challenging given our proximity to London and the London weighting in terms of wages. The work of our incredible NHS staff has also not been made easier by the ageing hospital they have had to work in and I know that Harlow’s new hospital will make an enormous difference to tackling these issues.
“I have spoken with the Chief Executive of the hospital who has set out detailed plans to improve the areas of service highlighted in the CQC report and I will support the hospital team in that work.”
They need to open A&E departments at Epping and bishop stortford and surrounding areas to help burden the load of Harlow A&E department People on beds on corridors .. even made to wait in A&E because of no beds… Children’s A&E is just as bad .. under 2s that can’t go to 111 first GPS need to Stewart seeing patients ie children
The best support he could give is not words or empty gestures, or promises that are not kept, but a decent pay rise for the NHS staff and insist that his Government, that has been in power for over 10 years now, start funding the NHS properly. And as for the new hospital in Harlow - when will that be? I'll believe it when I see it.
Im sorry but why are Gp surgeries not open 😤 it's absolute madness, i can go shopping, travel on a train into London to watch a theatre show, go watch a football match, get on a plane and go abroad, call NHS111 and see a Gp at the out of hours service at lister house but i can't make an appointment with my own Dr's surgery to see my Gp. If everything else is back to 'normal' why isn't the GP surgeries 🤔 open the surgeries and that would help with pressures and delays in A&E 🤷🏼♀️
More money definitely needs to go to hospitals for more trained doctors and nurses and more beds. We can do without the crossing at The Stort. That is not essential. The NHS is.
I agree with Niki, if GPs were actually seeing their patients there would not be the need for so many to go to A & E.
I am sorry Robert but your comments do a disservice to the findings of the CQC Report which states that whilst the overall rating of the hospital remains the same (Requires Improvement) the rating for the A and E service has gone down from "Requires Improvement" to "Inadequate". This judgements aren't made lightly and reflect some serious concerns regarding the safe and effective management of the A and E Service. We now need to be told the detail of the "plans to improve the service" and for management support, systems and resources to be put in place to enable the hard working and dedicated front line staff to function in a safe and effective way. Finally we need to know that the funding for a new hospital has been agreed and the amount of that funding - for at the present time that is far from certain. In the meantime we can all do our bit by only going to A and E if we absolutely have to.
The GPs are on to a good thing with phone consultations. Why would they want to change it
What a load of twaddle! has Mr Haflon sat in A&E for 10+ hours, Has Mr Haflon been waiting many years for a routine operation! Has Mr Haflon tried booking a doctors appointment, Has Mr Haflon tried visiting a hospital to accompanie their dying relative! NO I feel the answer would be so please dont make soap box appearances and photo's for the media without undertsanding the true facts!
