Athletics: Rust never sleeps and Moody is magnificent!

HARLOW Running Club were represented by 17 members at the Stebbing Remembrance Day 10 Mile race. This race also doubled as the Essex County 10 Mile Championships and HRC collected three county medals.

Sandra Rust finished 141st from 491 finishers and 1st Female Vet 50 to win the gold medal in her category in a time of 1hr 15min 38sec. Colin Moody was 196th in 1.22.00 to win the gold medal in the Vet 70 category while John Tennant was 259th in 1.26.30 to win the bronze medal in the same category.

First home was Martin Westley in 55th place in an excellent 1.05.59 and Lee Webber was not far behind in 59th place in a PB time of 1.06.22. Matt Spires was 101st in 1.11.50 in his debut at the distance and Catherine Ridge was first female finisher for HRC in 128th place in 1.14.39. Paul Dixon was 192nd in 1.21.24(PB), Chris Arnell 226th in 1.23.18(Debut), Gary Mead 232nd in 1.23.46(Debut), David Johnson 243rd in 1.24.41(PB), Kate Porter 292nd in 1.29.44(Debut), Kelly Spires 357th in 1.29.44(Debut), Susan Maloney 398th in 1.40.44, Janice Page 424th in 1.44.09, Debbie Smith 426th in 1.44.43 and Debbie Cooper 442nd in 1.46.36 a PB by 9min.

Meanwhile, at the Dirty Half Marathon Challenge at Leighton Buzzard Laura Prime finished in 206th place out of 489 finishers in 1.59.56 and Sandra Webber was 320th in 2.13.13.

Ben Usher completed the Druid’s Challenge Ultra at Tring, a 29 mile tough trail run along the Ridgeway in the Chilterns, finishing in 46th place out of 89 finishers in an exhausting 6.06.38.

At the Run Through Chase The Moon 10k at the Olympic Park Robert Foxley was 40th out of 242 finishers in 43.41.

The Remembrance Runs Essex at Debden Airfield, Saffron Walden, consisted of races at various distances. In the 10k race Teresa Stickland finished in 69th place out of 125 finishers in a PB time of 57.26 and Michelle Sheridan was 84th in 60.25 in her debut at the distance.

In the 5k race Terri Wiley was 10th out of 60 finishers in a PB time of 21.06, Paige Bircham was 13th in 22.05, Davina Smith 39th in 29.59(PB) and Joanne Mills 40th and 2nd Female Vet 65 in 30.09.

The second round of the Met League took place over a 5 mile course at Welwyn Garden City. In the ladies race Fieke Blackwell was 107th out of 210 finishers in 37.35. In the men’s race Pas Blackwell was 162nd out of 441 finishers and Chris Arnell was 407th in 39.33.

At Harlow parkrun Sandra Webber finished in a PB time of 26.23.
