HARLOW runner Lee Wood produced an outstanding performance to grab the silver medal at the Goodwood Marathon.
Lee, who only took up running two years ago, ran a personal best time of 2 hrs 37.49.
This means he qualifies automatically for the London Marathon in 2022.
This is a hugely impressive performance by a man who ran his first parkrun in May 2029 in a time of 30.11.
Since then he has embraced every aspect of running, from nutrition to bio-mechanics and taking on board advice.
Lee spoke to YH. He said: “I am really pleased with my performance in tricky conditions.
“It was very windy. So much so, that I was thinking of pulling out.
“It was a flat course. Eleven laps of Goodwood racecourse. I was pleased with the execution of my race and even more pleased with the performance.
“I would like to thank everyone at my training group at ParkrunandBeyond, especially Adrain Fell, who takes so much time out to write training programmes and offer advice.
