Athletics: Another barnstorming victory for Lucy

HARLOW Running Club competed in the third round of the East Herts / West Essex Cross Country League over a 5 mile course at Newport, near Saffron Walden.

The Ladies Team finished 3rd from 4 teams and are in 3rd place after 3 rounds.

The Men’s team finished in 4th place and are 4th after 3 rounds.

Overall Harlow are in a combined 3rd place after 3 rounds.

In the Ladies race Lucy Barnes finished in a fantastic 1st place out of 80 finishers in 28min 51sec. She was followed home by Terri Wiley in 3rd place in 31.15 and Fieke Blackwell 11th in 34.42.

In the Men’s race Rob Lowe finished in 6th place out of 90 finishers and 1st Vet 50 in an excellent 27.20. Not far behind was Pas Blackwell in 8th place in 28.02 and Ben Usher was 20th in 29.51.

Meanwhile, at the Peddars Way Ultra Marathon (48 miles) Tom Stevens finished in 44th place out of 134 finishers in an exhaustive 8hrs 53min 56sec.

The Peddars Way is a national trail that runs from the Suffolk border to the
North Norfolk Coast.

There were parkrun PB runs from Kevin Peacock at Harlow, finishing in 83rd place out of 223 finishers in 27.50, and by Jermaine Shand at the Gunpowder parkrun, at Waltham Abbey, finishing in 22nd place out of 192 finishers in
20.52.
