You want to look around Harlow at 3am in the morning as there are loads of scooters being driven around Harlow with the riders all dress in black with hoodies up! I dont think they are out just for leisure??

eScooters are a menace on the pavements too.

About time you stopped the cycles and scooters all along Howard way every morning and evening with no lights on the pavements. These are people in the dark commuting to work who need stopping.

Bang him up, it's an offensive weapon.

Terry.... Lets hope they dont start wearing all pink and and their heads should be warm so no need for hoodies.

Had one woman come down the middle of our road on one with her small child on it as well, clearly picked up from school near The Shark. Just missed her pulling off my drive.

Oh dear...what an over reaction in the comments... how many people die each year from car use? Drunk drivers, road rage, jumping lights, overtaking on the inside, illegal use of bus lanes....the 10s of thousands of car parked on pavements obstructing the visually impaired and forcing parents with prams to navigate on the road instead ..then there's the drivers that insist on leaving their engines running whilst parked, adding to the odious polution that is damaging our enviroment... The way I see it is the police sbould be nicking all you lot... not criminalising some teanage boy...

We spent nearly 400 on a family electric scooter i think Christmas 2020.. And then they were banned. Pointless trying to sell.. But yes i haven't allowed my kids on it since and it infuriates me when I see people still on theirs!!

It's about time the government makes e scooters legal. As their so many out there now. And is so convenient to use.

I agree these scooters are lethal they ride them up & down the cycle tracks to the link & past Barbara Castle Dr surgery, the speed they go is worse than some of these car drivers, they haven't a single thought or care when passing or creeping up on you, most of them are kids so their parents must have bought it for them as they cost a lot of money so truthfully they are just as bad, they should have licence pay road tax insurance & be of a certain age to aquire one of these, wouldn't be so many then would there. Why are you not banning the sale of these anyway!! They seem to be multipling!! These are not the only dangerous rage at the moment moped scooters are also out & about at night with pilian riders on the back weaving up & down the road or riding on back wheel with the front in the air on summers Estate or over the fields, UNBELIEVABLE as when police are told by the time they get there they seem never to catch them, because there they go in their police cars for all to see & the culprits are off what does that say about our POLICING, f.....g rubbish, maybe they should go in unmarked police cars plain clothes & catch them off their guard, that goes for all these druggies that are around summers estate too, it's like the island of all sorts, get them all behind bars, none of them work beats me how they can pay for all these things. Police need to stop chasing stupid things & get on with what needs to be sorted so other people can live a little safer.

Motorised vehicles like these that travel at speeds, that can cause injuries need to be taxed and insured and regulated. The rate of fatal and serious and probably minor accidents for these vehicles is less than for cars. Small battery and hydrogen driven vehicles scooters, bikes and buggies are a way forward to sort congestion and Climate Change and having dedicated routes, separate from pedestrians like cycleway tracks provide part of a sustainable future. Groups of hooded individuals up to no good cruising the estates in the small hours need to be stopped whatever vehicles they use and drug dealing that seems rife need to be tackled head on with more CSOs, Police, youth clubs and other creative, social, sports innovations. We need to look at the causes of crime and poverty, apparently there are more food banks in the uk than Macdonald's, true or not we shouldn't have a need for any food banks at all. Let's not confuse a mode of cheap transport with antisocial behaviour.

I'm not going to jump on the anti scooter bandwagon. They are a environmentally friendly form of transport. However, 50 mph is dangerous for him let alone others. Just need some regulation.

I have nothing against the use of e-scooters that are legal, safe and used responsibly. However they are currently ILLEGAL. No ifs or buts they are simply illegal to use anywhere in Harlow unless on private land. The Police very very rarely enforce this. Shame on Harlow Police for this laziness and indifference.

Yes, they are often a danger, yes, they are illegal (except on privete property), yes, Essex police are not catching enough. We need to press for better control AND registration of owners.

Retailers are selling theses stupid things and not informing the customer of the restrictions on their use. Electric scooters have NEVER BEEN PERMITTED FOR USE IN PUBLIC AREAS. The retailers have perhaps in many instances been mis-selling the ridiculous contraptions. As lawyers would say "Caveat Emptor" buyer beware. Personally, I would happily help the police cut the things up.
