WHEREVER you are in Harlow, whether you live or work in the town or are visiting, police officers are there to help keep people safe.
And that includes on the railway.
They patrol regularly with our British Transport Police colleagues on trains and in stations on the Greater Anglia line.
Yesterday, Monday 7 March, during the late afternoon and evening, officers conducted nine stop searches, seizing a knife, a hammer and a knuckleduster, and arrested two people, including an 18-year-old man from Cheshunt on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon.
Sgt Kevin Buck, from British Transport Police says: “Keeping passengers safe as they travel is our top priority, so we conduct unpredictable patrols like this day and night across the railway.
“We regularly work together with Essex Police to achieve positive results – in this case, a number of dangerous weapons being removed from the railway.”
