STAFF and pupils at Saint Nicholas School in Old Harlow are celebrating this week after receiving the highest possible grading of ‘excellent’ across all areas, in a recent school inspection, carried out by the Independent School Inspectorate (ISI).
The top grading was achieved for both the two key areas of pupil achievements (both academic and otherwise) and personal development. In particular, the report notes that Saint Nicholas pupils of all ages are excellent communicators, who are confident, highly articulate, with extremely positive attitudes to learning. Throughout the report, teachers are complimented for their support and encouragement, as well as the mutual respect and kindness they model, which creates a calm and purposeful family environment.
The result of the inspection, which was carried out at the end of January, has been formally shared with the school, and the full report has happily been shared with parents and staff who are all delighted with the rating.
Mr Paul Wilson, the Headmaster, said; “Everyone at the school is delighted to have had such an outstanding inspection. In particular, I am immensely proud that the inspectors recognised the high standards set by my committed and caring team, which constantly challenge pupils to strive to achieve their best throughout their time with us. I am enormously grateful to all of my colleagues for the part they have played in making this such a successful inspection.”
He continued; “The report was also highly complimentary towards our pupils’ achievements, attitudes to learning and general behaviour, noting their unfailingly courteous and considerate manner, both inside and outside of the classroom. They are indeed a credit to the school, their families and, most importantly, themselves.”
The school, which celebrated an excellent set of GCSE results last summer, appears to be going from strength to strength, with record pupil numbers, following a number of recent investments into the school’s facilities, including a new indoor arena, and the acquisition of the Old Stables which are currently undergoing refurbishment. There are also plans well under way for a new library so 2022 is set to be another exciting year for Saint Nicholas School.
