Harlow’s potholes scandal: Now Brian Wilson gets involved!

IT’S like Stellar Street in Harlow!

One minute Sir Road Stewart (sic) is getting involved filling in potholes and then we have Brian Wilson.

YH spotted Brian as he was pouring tarmac into a pothole on Tumbler Road.

It would have been nice if it was Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys but it was Brian Wilson of Nicholls Field.

God only knows why Brian is having to do Essex County Council’s job but he is a very community minded man.

Whilst we were there, he told us he is setting up a Neighbourhood Watch for the Nicholls Field, Purford Green and Great Leylands area.

Like many people, Brian is simply fed up and doesn’t want to pay out hundreds of pounds for damage to his car.

We have contacted Bush Fair councillor, Dan Swords who has given off good vibrations and said the will be in touch.

Spending so much money on this glorified Gilston Garden Village just another housing estate, but our roads no! council would rather have show houses than decent road worthy of no potholes, scandalous.

Fairy2, The council is not building Gilston Garden Village. It is a private development. Plus it is in Hertfordshire! Jesus!

It's worse than that Fairy2, the fact is that the residents of the thousands of new homes to be built to the North of Harlow will be paying their Council tax to Hertfordshire County Council and East Herts Council, so they will not be contributing anything to get roads repaired or indeed any services in Harlow. As for contacting Cllr Swords, well I am afraid he has no more influence about what happens to the street scene in Harlow than any other resident. It's really come to something when residents feel they have to take matters into their own hands, the Harlow Wombles for instance would not be needed if the Council kept our town in good order.

Tory County Council are in charge of our roads and maintenance, and over the years have not served Harlow well--I used to think it was because we were a Labour Council for many years, but obviously, their Tory brothers have not been able to change their minds--perhaps they should ask their County Council to do something urgently--the pothole Mr Wilson is filling in is a real danger, and Tumbler Road--a main bus route--is deteriorating rapidly. Come on Harlow Tories--use your influence to get them to do something. Let them know that Harlow is as important and as worthy as Southend, Chelmsford etc and we deserve a fair and good service as well.

There are a lot of Harlow roads due to have work done on them soon. There is an article about the affected roads in the Epping Forest Guardian. I am surprised Your Harlow has not passed on the information yet.

Fairy2 Harlow Council doesn't do it. It's down to Essex Council to sort roads and pathways out.

The way pot holes are dealt with seems to be a small hole is reported for months and gets worse, a Council worker checks there is a now bigger hole, another some time later comes out and paints a red ring round it, then several weeks or months later a contractor fills it in, water gets in and a small pot hole appears.... Didn't know Jesus was involved? Essex CC seem to.think they have divine visions about roads but are deluded. In addition to gridlock the result shall be more Pot holes, congestion, flooding and a road along the bottom of the Stort River Valley that will pollute and destroy the natural nature reserve.

Essex County Council are too busy spending millions on private health insurance and luxury cars for staff than waste it on repairing our crumbling roads and foot paths.

Waste of time to get anything done which ever council is responsible for doing so whether it's roads or pathway's. None of them are interested so the longer they leave them the less their spending in their eyes & then their pockets & bonuses get fuller & bigger. So of course they are not going to repair them. Plus the more the public get to fill these holes the less they have to do if this is what it takes. The answer here is for all of us in Harlow to stop paying some of the council tax as that is what we are paying it for as well as other things. They can't put us all away if it was a joint effort, wow they would have a problem then but maybe just maybe it would get their arses in gear as to HARLOW repairs on roads & pathments.

It has been suggested that Conservative ECC have run their organisation entirely to suit their staff and residents have been completely ignored, which is why so many don't bother to vote at all. I have been told almost 3,000 ECC staff are employed above the average wage, up almost 500 (around 16%) on the preceding year. If correct, this is scandalous.
