THE woodland is being dedicated to the Queen’s Green Canopy, a unique UK-wide tree planting scheme to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022. 

In total 850 whips (small trees) and 11 standard trees made up of 16 different species have been planted on the helipad area of Second Avenue to create the new community woodland. 

The council would like to thank everyone who has been part of this project including residents, groups, council staff, volunteers and councillors who took part in the community tree planting day back in January.
