The Heath Players set to return with double dose of comedy

AFTER a two year, Covid-enforced hiatus the Heath Players are glad to be back performing again.
Our first production should bring smiles to the faces of audiences as we proudly present two well-loved radio shows.
Firstly, “After Henry” by Simon Brett. Starring Prunella Scales and Joan Sanderson, this ran for three series on Radio 4 in the late 1980s before transferring to ITV for a television adaptation.

Sarah France is the 42-year-old widow of a GP, Henry. She lives in an often-volatile family situation with her mother, Eleanor Prescott, and her daughter, eighteen-year-old Clare France. After Henry’s death, the three generations of women have to cope with one another as best they can, under their shared roof.
Our adaptation features Jaki Newman, Renee Joyce, Becky Vincent and Adam Thompson and is directed by Steve Foster.
The second show is an episode of “Steptoe and Son” by Ray Galton and Alan Simpson. In this case the radio shows were adapted from the successful BBC television series that ran in the early 70s.
The series focused on the inter-generational conflict of father and son. Albert Steptoe (played by Wilfred Bramble), is an elderly rag-and-bone man, set in his grimy and grasping ways. By contrast, his son Harold (Harry H. Corbett) is filled with social aspirations and pretensions.
Mark Ratcliff directs Steve Foster, Clive Weatherley, Mita Upadhyaya and Ginny Elliston.
Please note that due to a prior booking in the Village Hall, the production will take place in the Institute and we will be serving tea, coffee and soft drinks only.
