Senior Harlow Labour councillor: “We have a government that lies to people, we have a council that lies to people”

A SENIOR Labour councillor has issued a coruscating attack on both the Conservatives, both in Harlow and Westminster.
Tony Durcan is defending the seat of Little Parndon and Hare Street.
YH caught up with him outside Princess Alexandra Hospital. The veteran councillor was in combative form as he covered many many local issues and the national ones.

10 years Labour were in. And don't get me wrong, conservatives are just as bad, all we have heard are promises. One example of labour's plans was to reginarate the town, all I saw was flower pots, and concrete tenise table., roads are bad today, because you did nothing, I could go on. Labour all so puts plans in to destroy our river stort valley, by putting a 4 lane road in, right across our beautiful river, with thousands of unaffordable housing on our wet lands , destroying wild life and old tress ,ect ect. You lot put this plan I'm, conservatives approved it, 6,000 signatures against this, none of you wanted to hear public options. 5000 people waiting for homes, last I heard when you were in, only 22 council were built. Conservatives are saying there building hundreds and hundreds, in fase 1, we know there's 99,,, no one wants to say how many in fase 2. Is this really listening to local voices, both party's have had the chance s to change this, but it never happened did it. We need to get back to, local people, for local issues, first and foremost, this issue s have to be addressed. Not all ways national as you speak of. I will be voting green, I know theses are local people who want to hear us, because they stand for Harlow issues.

To be honest all politicians lie, Labour are just as bad lets not forget the large lie of Labour's that lead to millions dead in the middle east. On a local level if they could explain the £1M of wasted council tax on projects which never happened that would be great as well. Money people worked hard for and then had to pay in taxes to see labour council waste it.

I’d rather vote for someone who is authentic! What does this man actually do for the community- I saw him and few of his peers went to a few houses with a few leaflets, really zero effort here! Danielle Brown already supports the Harlow community by offering training and employment opportunities, as well as free hair cuts for the homeless and residents in care homes! I ask you Tony what do you actually do?! How the local Labour Party have the audacity to even stand this year is beyond me! They left businesses with no support and gave pathetic excuses blaming the IT systems and sold out local residents to Amazon by allowing them to build a warehouse so close to their properties it’s caused them to be devalued, as well as the lack of sun light, privacy, and noise! Seriously your telling me someone in planning thought this would be a good idea for those living in Bynghams! Your telling me that was done for the best interests of those living in the community?! It’s about time people got to grips with reality that those who hide behind the Labour banner are not for working class people! Let’s not forget Garden Tax!!! Another brilliant idea from those who don’t want anyone to build any kind of independence. A Labour council would be a backwards step for residents of Harlow.

Unable to show where this government and council has been truthful, the only recourse is ill-informed personal attacks. What has Tony Durcan done for the community? Amongst many things, Tony Durcan is a senior officer for Essex and Hertfordshire, Royal College of Nursing. Remember those people you were clapping for? Yes, Tony was one of the people you clapped for. As for the lies told by this government - how about this one: Boris has said In the Commons, nine times that the number of people in work is higher now than before the start of the pandemic. Hen then lied about correcting the record. Garden Tax - yet another myth spouted by the right wing press. The “land value tax” was a POSSIBLE option as part of a review into reforming council tax and business rates. And that is all. A review. We already have a Tory run County Council. There are as many holes in the roads as there are in the ECC budget. Neither are going to be fixed any time soon. When will the holes in the M11 roundabout be fixed?

Im a Conservative, thats why I wont vote Conservative. Conservatism is based on priciples and values. Johnson has normalised law breaking a lying and using the RW media as propoganda. I would never ever have considered voting Labour but after 30+ years I will now.

Convinced that Tony Durcan solely exists to post on the comments of anything that mentions the word “politics” here. Call it out and he’ll call you a Tory spin doctor. It’s insane. Go out there, do your job sunshine - and push for some change instead of sitting on YourHarlow every day, saying the same thing over and over again. And before you get upset and go running to the editor like you did the last time, think about your actions. Can you really point a finger of blame when you’re just as responsible for the decline as the rest of them are? Think not.

I may politely point out four points: 1. On housebuilding, not one scheme in the New House Building Programme is the same as we were left with. I scrapped them all. 2. The Town Centre Masterplan started in July. After this lot were voted out. 3. The chap above did not deliver the new homes or town centre regeneration - judge people on their actions and not their words. 4. This is the same man who spent £1.13 million of taxpayers money on housebuilding schemes that never happened. He didn’t want the public to know and tried to cover it up. He is the most expensive Cllr Harlow has ever had. Council Tax could have been frozen for four years if he hadn’t wasted this money.

Yet to see Dan lay down in front of those bulldozers, another broken promise. Not wanting to state the obvious but Labour are leading on the cost of living (not a local issue) but it was Labour who voted against freezing Harlow council tax and giving a rebate. A bit of hypocrisy don’t you think Tony?

I have never heard so much drivel out of the mouth of a local politician. Harlow Council officers hard working?Some may be - but at very senior level as Cllr Tony Durcan & ALL leaders of the Council and many other councilors know, and has the evidence of, they have lied, forged a letter, ignored civil and criminal laws and are DELIBERATELY causing damage to our property!!! Conservatives allowed this and then Harlow Labour! This is discrimination and oppression! A very senior officer who is STILL with the Harlow Council falsely accused me of making a "vexatious" complaint when my complaint was SUPPORTED by documentary evidence of fraud on Harlow Council letter headed paper; a Laboratory Report by the Zurich Subsidence Team (Zurich are insurers of Harlow Council); and the solicitors Zurich brought into challenge their own team who confirmed "subsidence damage" to our property by Harlow Council trees!!! Then in 2018 one councillor named by Cllr Tony Durcan advised that the trees causing damage would be removed and was asked NOT to put iti n writing because I was told not to tell anyone or go public! Cllr Durcan why will you or any other councillor respond to my email why the trees were NOT removed and are still causing damage to our property?Why are the people still paying the HUGE SALARIES of fraudsters? Yes Harlow Council are lying to the people of Harlow and Harlow Labour have been in power for most of the time that we were being abused, discriminated against and oppressed! Started with Harlow Conservatives,continued with Harlow Labour!!!
