But I was told that the insurance company takes care of it, what's so special about this car?

If the car is stalling then take it to a garage. I may be an idiot but I could probably fix it, no need for the police.

To be honest I have just had my own car stolen and Essex police have asked me If I have any pictures of my car so they can put them on on social networking sites, unfortunately I don’t but it would be interesting to see if there is people out there in the same situation who have uploaded pictures of there stolen vehicles and not been treated the same way if so then there is an issue.I also have to add that my car has been found and Essex police rang me to inform me and that the recovery people will ring me which they haven’t yet. But by every thing I’ve read I do think that the police feel they’ve done done there job and it’s now down to the recovery team an my insurers . I’ve seen the same scenarios before on here and me myself thought the same that the police were treating people differently but all I’m saying is I’m not so sure now.

Some 50 years ago, my first car (a pre-MOT days rust heap Ford Anglia) was stolen from outside our home in Fold Croft. A week or so later, the Police called to say it had been found, along with a wrench and various other house-breaking tools. They added that if nobody claimed the tools within three months, I could keep them!
