End of an era as White Horse pub in Potter Street closes

IT is the end of an era but possibly the dawn of a new one as the White Horse pub in Potter Street has closed.
It had been run by John Shultar for a number of decades.
The pub, which sits on the edge of Harlow Common was much loved by some locals.

However, our sources tell us that brewery have been in and may re-open in the near future.
Many would welcome that as it has a lot of potential.
It may be worth noting that a few years ago, The Golden Swift in Harberts Road, Harlow was protected as an “asset of community value”.
Let's hope it remains a pub for community. We have lost far to many. And many old pubs turned into modern eating places, bit luckily still a pub. Let's hang on to our pubs.
John and his Dad are and were respectively real assets to their community for many years.
A refurbished and well run family friendly pub with a big garden, affordable food and drinks would be a great addition to the Potter Street area.
I was a barmaid there at the age of 18 - it would be a real shame to see it disappear
John, good luck for the future. All the very best. Ian Hud

Good memories I met my husband Alan merry in there in the 90 ths best wishes John
Great memories in that pub, fun, laughter, tears, etc the good old days. Hope John and Wendy are ok, it will never be the same
Miss you John xx Susie and Peter
Worst pub I’ve ever been in Harlow. Over priced beers and nearly broke my back while sitting in the beer garden with my girlfriend and the chair I was sitting on collapsed. However I hope it does stay a pub rather than become housing…
Saw a For Sale sign going up to day at the horse…. That is never a good sign😥
Theresa and Alan merry. I hope you are both well . Phil
Most of all I hope john and Wendy are ok. Phil fleming.
