Report by South East Harlow Sports and Youth Assocation

CELEBRATING a lovely environment on a typical pleasant summer evenings illustrates what South East Harlow Sports and Youth Association (SEHSYA) has been doing to support local groups.

1. Changing Lives Street Cricket ( every Thursday 5pm.to 6pm)

2 Changing Lives football group, –  mid ground Cricket nets practice Potter Street & Church Langley Senior Cricket Club.

3. Frontiers Youth FC football training.

4. OFSTED approved child-minding group and work going on inside the cafe to open more often and provide better access and more services.

Also going on: SEHSYA is working with:- LTA and Harlow Council to get the tennis courts resurfaced and marked up for multi sports use and tennis coaching programmes:
–  The Football Foundation continues a programme of pitch improvement works over the Summer
– Very successful junior, youth, mens and womans football teams
– Sports and community works by SEHSYA and Frontiers YFC have been recognized by the Football Foundation and Harlow Council and they have made the provision of a new pavilion centre for community and sports use, a priority project.

This will need much fundraising to match the grant on the table from the Football Foundation.

More recently SEHSYA is in need of immediate accommodation between the cafe and the current buildings to provide space for developing youth services in partnership with Changing Lives, to accommodate new Mental health and Wellbeing groups and re enable local young musicians (bands ) rehearsal room space. We want to get far more youngsters and adults involved and keep them active and involved in healthy pursuits.

Henry Moore School has kindly offered a relocatable building free at the end of term that has to go to make space for their new 5 classroom block.

We are desperately scrambling to raise the cost of paying  for transporting the building to our site and getting the required planning permission!!
Thanks to all those who have worked tirelessly to help over the years since 1997 when we started: SEHSYA is run entirely by volunteers from the Harlow community. Come and join us!There’s still much to do from litter picking to supporting the teams, community and youth activities: even buying a coffee from our community cafe helps.
