Harlow Council issue statement over possible bin strike

HARLOW Council has issued a statement in light of possible strike action by refuse workers in the town.
A spokesperson said: “Harlow Council is monitoring this situation very carefully and urges both parties to sit down to resolve any concerns. It is hoped that strike action can be avoided. We know that the local bin crews do an amazing job, and they deserve the opportunity to share their concerns about the pay offer.
“We hope that a way forward is found and will be working with Veolia to do all that we can to ensure that residents receive the service they are entitled to expect.”
I must say that I have a lot of respect for our bin men. They are usually punctual and efficient, and they are always polite whenever we meet them. I hope that the current misunderstanding can be resolved without the need for industrial action. Our refuse collectors do vitally important work and deserve to be properly remunerated...
Show me the money
Let me get this right.. Our binmen worked though COVID, at personal risk.. They didn't demand a payrise throughout..as they were an essential service.. And now 2 years later, they are being offered what can only be described as a pay cut....??
Totally agree with Neil - do the right thing and give them what they deserve. They do brilliant essential work that none of us can do without, stop prolonging what needs doing and pay them
I totally agree with all comments, they need a pay rise. Where would we be without them. Up to our necks in rubbish etc. Stop prevaricating and get on with it. Who is going to do it when they strike.
Give the binmen a decent raise.
