HARLOW is taking part in a nationwide beacon lighting event to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee of Her Majesty The Queen.

The beacon lighting celebration will be held on Thursday 2 June 2022 in Playhouse Square from 6.30pm to 10pm. This will be proceeded by the reading of the Proclamation at 2pm by Patrick Arnold, The Town Crier, on the balcony of the Civic Centre. 

Harlow’s evening celebration will start with a variety of live performances from acts such as Livewire, Cinderella, Catlin Vocalist and Mary Cameron. There will also be a colouring competition for children. At 9.40pm there will be a Bugle Call by Tabitha Floyd. This will be followed by the lighting of the beacon at 9.45pm by the Deputy Lord Lieutenant, Lady Rosemary Ruggles-Brise who will be accompanied by the Chair of Harlow Council, Councillor Andrew Johnson, the Chairman of Essex County Council, Councillor Eddie Johnson. This will coincide with Nathan Stickley singing the ‘Song for the Commonwealth’.

9.30pm – Speech by Chair of Harlow Council Cllr Andrew Johnson 

9.40pm – Bugle Call 

9.45pm – Beacon Lighting by Lady Rosemary Ruggles Brise DL, Chair of Harlow Council, Councillor Andrew Johnson and Chairman of Essex County Council, Councillor Eddie Johnson

9.45pm – Song for the Commonwealth arranged and performed by Nathan Stickley

Please note the Playhouse Square will be closed to vehicles from 6pm.

Also, on Thursday 2 June from 11am The Water Gardens will be holding its Jubilee at The Gardens event with many local acts performing on the big stage including Hip Hop Pop workshop, Harlow Brass Band and Rock choir.
