THIS Volunteer Week (1-7 June 2022) Henry Moore Studios & Gardens is looking to recruit new volunteers to join our enthusiastic and knowledgeable team.

We are looking to grow our team of dedicated Volunteer Guides, to lead tours for adult groups and school parties, and Volunteer Gardeners, help maintain the sculpture gardens designed by Moore and his wife Irina consisting of 70 acres of ponds, hedgerows, orchards, sheep fields, woodlands, lawns and a small kitchen garden.

Volunteering at the Studios & Gardens offers first-hand insight into the work of one of the world’s most notable sculptors and the chance to experience the day to day operation of an international arts organisation. Our volunteers help us to continue Henry Moore’s mission to encourage public appreciation of the visual arts.

Wendy Train, Volunteer Guide “I love recounting the history of artist Henry Moore, standing in his garden, full of amazing sculptures. We take school children on a magical tour of the gardens, introducing them to shape and form on a monumental scale. We learn by shadowing the more experienced guides and then consolidate that learning through watching videos and studying handouts from the curatorial team. The staff at Henry Moore Studios & Gardens are always very supportive of their team of guides. It is a very rewarding way to volunteer”.

Volunteering at the Studios & Gardens is a great way to learn new skills and develop confidence in a new area of expertise, whether you are retired or wishing to gain and develop new skills to boost your CV. Volunteers are given regular feedback and contact time with Foundation staff, and enjoy social occasions plus an annual trip to a related arts venue.
