No-fault evictions and barring tenants on benefits to be outlawed

News / Sat 18th Jun 2022 at 05:22pm

MEASURES to tackle unscrupulous private landlords who evict tenants without giving a reason or who let unsafe homes, will be introduced under government proposals aimed at giving a better deal for millions of renters in England reports The Guardian.

The centrepiece of the fairer private rented sector white paper, published by the government on Thursday, is the outlawing of “no-fault” evictions – currently the biggest single cause of homelessness in England.

The long-delayed paper will also set out proposals to force private landlords to improve the quality of damp, dirty and unfit homes where conditions put the health of tenants at risk. A fifth of all private rented properties are estimated to be of substandard quality.

I don't understand if you bought a property why you would let it out in awful conditions in first place, all repair and decorating should be don't, all safety checks should be done. And tenants should not be evicted for no reason. We are landlords, we wouldn't dream of letting our flat out in that state. But you have to understand this. Not every body is above board an honest. We have had some terrible tenants. We have lost thousands in past, and just recently to. We even had one that done away with meters, and put his bills in our name, which cost us thousands. We have all so allowed pets, but theses cats where shut in all day, and caused a lot of damage to doors, and walls scratching. We have had small stones put down all plug holes, he kept fish. I could go on and on. It's not all one sided. And we consider our self's to be good landlord s. It's not fair to just here one side. I agree that the bad ones should be held accountable. But your only hearing one side here.

This is just part of the plan to get rid of small private landlords I think. The government does not like small business, as it’s too much effort to support. Much better to deal with a few large conglomerates. If you are a small landlord you will soon be contacted with offers to buy your properties. A large company will end up owning the properties and the tenants will be ultimately be treated worse, but of course they will have all the paperwork to prove otherwise. Also if you want to work as a expat for a year or two, you can no longer rent out your property while you are abroad under these new rules.

Theman, the government carnt false people to sell. It's up to individuals if they want to sell there properties. It's owned by landlords, and landlords choice if they sell, no government can change this. And if landlords want to sell to theses companies It's there choice at end of day. This will not change.
