Communities / Sat 2nd Jul 2022 am31 06:20am

A NEWLY refurbished library fit for the twenty first century re-opened on Friday morning in Harlow Town Centre.

The ribbon was cut by Harlow MP Robert Halfon. Also in attendance was the deputy leader of Essex County Council, Louise Mackinlay. There were also a number of the Harlow representatives on Essex County Council.

The library will also be a base for Adult Community Learning.

We do encourage people to drop in. There is a cafe and a host of new learning rooms at the back.

After a long and persistant campaign by SOLE - (Save Our Libraries Essex), SOLE -Harlow and many supporters ALL the Harlow libraries remain open . Essex County Council was forced to wake up to the needs of a place they barely acknowleged . A town now of over 90,000 and due to expand further. Today the Central Town library is absolutely buzzing. :) Families exploring the refurbished Childrens library and treated to an exciting performance by Livewire of Where the Wild Things Are ! After years of abject neglect perhaps ECC can see the benefit of investment ? ! Lets hope this is reflected in the range of book stock etc Now, please Essex Library Service extend opening hours so that the working community in the town have an opportunity to use our library service ! Good also to be greeted by smiling staff who must be excited too!
