LOCAL clients of Home Instead Cuffley, Cheshunt and Harlow had a great time decorating a wooden birdhouse, all in aid of a Platinum Jubilee themed arts and craft competition organised by the home care company to get clients into the festive spirit.

The team at Home Instead delivered hampers containing a wooden birdhouse, stickers, acrylic paint pens and general decorative materials to 20 of their clients. Their clients then spent time together with their dedicated Care Professional designing and decorating their very own birdhouse.

The two lucky winning pairs, Bill and his carer Alex, and Pamela and her carer Carlene, were chosen by a panel at Home Instead’s office in Potters Bar, for their creativity and impeccable teamwork.

Both Bill and Pamela were overjoyed to be awarded a special Jubilee-themed prize.

Carlene Purslow (Care Professional) said: ‘’Pamela and I had great fun celebrating the Jubilee and taking part in the competition together, doing these sorts of activities really brings us closer together.’’

Neena Patel, co-owner of Home Instead Cuffley, Cheshunt and Harlow, commented on the competition: “We thought this would be a great way to encourage our clients and their Care Professionals to get engaged in a fun, hands-on activity while creating something which they can keep and reminisce over for years to come.

“Getting creative is a great way to pass time and is also a really relaxing activity that everyone can take part in. Many of our clients who have taken part in the activity live with dementia, so this has proven to be a really fun and engaging activity. Everyone had such a lovely time and clients are already asking when they can do it all again, so we are already planning our next arts and crafts-themed activity!”
