Harlow is 75: Jamal Uddin: Love and commitment to Bangladesh

IN the second of our Harlow is 75 interviews, we went down to the Garden of India restaurant in Bush Fair to interview Jamal Uddin.
Despite running a host of restaurants, he is still very much in overall charge. He had to be prised out of the kitchen by his son Mo for this interview!
But we wanted Jamal to take up back to the city of Sylhet in Bangladesh.
This is a fascinating interview as Jamal paints a picture of a fourteen-year-old boy showing his aptitude for business on the market.
But the whole Uddin family have never forgotten their homeland and even and we speak they are campaigning and fund-raising to help Sylhet and other areas of Bangladesh as they have suffered from severe floods.
Jamal’s commitment to the community both here in Harlow and in Bangladesh has been widely acclaimed but he is a modest man and perhaps hasn’t had the full recognition he deserves.
An explanation of the Harlow is 75 project and all the interviews is here
My respects to Mr Jamal Uddin, a thoroughly decent gentleman.
