HARLOW Council hopes to open the town’s paddling pools at Bush Fair, Norman Booth, Sumners and Town Park later this week.
The council is sorry that it has not been able to fill them up from Monday 18 July as planned. This is because of the current high demand for water caused by the extreme temperatures and Affinity Water is urging everyone in the town to avoid all non-essential water use. The council hopes to start filling them up from Wednesday (20 July 2022). However, this situation will be kept under review and will depend on the water demand situation. If the council can fill them up from Wednesday, it hopes that they will be ready to use from Friday 22 July 2022.
Potter Street Splash Park is currently closed due to vandalism to the surface. The council is arranging for repairs to be made.
Staple Tye paddling pool is being transformed into a mix of splash park and paddling pool. Unfortunately, this work has been delayed due to theft, damage and vandalism at the site and ongoing supply issues. Contractors continue to work on site to make the new facility ready as quickly as possible.
It is estimated that the new park will open on 13 August 2022. The council is sorry that the opening will be delayed. This is due to factors outside of the council’s control. It is hugely frustrating for all that it won’t be ready to open for the start of the summer holidays. The council will keep residents updated.
Regular updates on the paddling pools and splash parks can be found on the council’s website – www.harlow.gov.uk/paddling-pools
What pleasure do these scum bags get out of destruction. Have they never enjoyed a council provided paddling pool, park, picnic or play area. Obviously not! No wonder there’s F all to do in this town, because it gets vandalised. A visit to the paddling pool is a cheap and sociable activity for children, parents/carers., especially children stuck in flats with no access to a garden.
Bishops Stortford paddling pool is open all summer, why do Harlow wait until the school summer holidays? Surely they should be open from May half term
Your Harlow there has been nobody anywhere near the staple the park for at least 4 months . There is no damage at all around there . It’s just more propaganda from Harlow council
That’s not good news, I spent soo much time at these pools with my children when they were younger, had lots of fun days and gives children a chance of making new friends. It’s such a shame.
