Harlow Council suffers IT power outage
Harlow Council / Mon 1st Aug 2022 at 08:52am

HARLOW Council’s IT network is currently down due to a power outage.
This means the council’s phone system and emails are currently not available.
If you need to contact THEM urgently, you can come into the Civic Centre.
We are sorry for the inconvenience.
Further updates will follow.
I call bs on this one, Have they not heard of a ups?
It would be interesting to know why Harlow Council's IT facilities are not protected against power outages. Just about every other professional company in the UK will have this facility but clearly not our council!
Apparently the hamster wheel seized up. Seriously though I thought local government ran on hot air. So you walk into council office, sorry, civic Center , and ask for service and they say “ sorry can’t help computers are down” still I suppose the advice above ticks a box for someone.
To be fair though. Most ups systems are used to keep the data on the servers safe, by allowing time for them to shut down safely, not to keep every pc powered.
