Athletics: Laura goes the distance as she trains for Sahara Challenge

Athletics / Wed 10th Aug 2022 am31 07:59am

HARLOW Running and Tri Club’s Laura Prime completed the 50km South West Coast Challenge at Exmoor National Park, which includes 1600 metres of climb, finishing in 23rd place out of 485 finishers and fifth female in an excellent and exhausting 7hrs 30min 33sec.

Laura is building up to the Sahara Desert Challenge (https://www.ultrachallenge.com/the-saharan-challenge/).

A fortnight ago, she ran the Best Foot Forward 30k race by Zig Zag Running at Haughley, Suffolk, finishing in 1st place out of 6 finishers in an excellent 3hrs 21min 53sec, which is a new Female Course Record.

Laura has set herself an amazing and daunting challenge but she is a very dedicated runner.

She has a few more ultra distances before she heads to the Sahara.

She will be joined at the Sahara Challenge by the Chair of HRTC, Miguel Luque.

We hope to catch up with both of them before they head off.
