THE resilience of sixth formers who finished their schooling during the height of the pandemic is today being celebrated.
As Year 13 students collected their A-level results from BMAT STEM Academy, in Harlow, education leaders praised their hard work and determination.
The cohort of students were the first to have their GCSE exams cancelled due to Covid-19 lockdowns and school closures.
Instead, their grades were decided by their teachers, based on their previous achievements and coursework.
This summer, they were able to sit their A-level and vocational exams, earning results the new sixth form is proud of.
Among the students celebrating top results this year are –
The sixth form is particularly proud of its maths, engineering and computer science results.
Head of school Dustin Schuyler said: “This is our first year of having Year 13, so also our first year of having A-level and Level 3 results.
“We are extremely proud of the students and how they have performed, especially considering the circumstances, having had so many disruptions to their learning and not having sat their GCSEs due to the pandemic.
“We continue to offer a blend of subjects at sixth form, where students can take A-levels, Level 3 courses or a combination of both. This gives students the opportunity to select courses they are most interested in and that best supports them in getting to the next step, whether it be attending university or taking on an apprenticeship/degree apprenticeship.
“Our students will be exploring all three routes. We are excited for them!”
