Athletics: Harlow Triathletes channel their inner girl power!

HARLOW Running and Tri Club’s female triathletes were in action at separate major European events over the weekend.
At the Kalmar Ironman in Sweden (2.4 mile Baltic Sea swim, 112 mile bike ride, full marathon 26.2 mile run), which was won by Britain’s Olympian Alistair Brownlee, Fieke Blackwell finished in 248th place out of 2047 finishers and 2nd Female Vet 35 in a fantastic 10hrs 14min 18sec, a PB by 60mins. This time qualifies Fieke to compete in the World Ironman Championship in Hawaii in October. Fieke’s individual discipline times were: swim 1:03, bike 5:12, run 3:52.
Meanwhile, at the Copenhagen Ironman Holly Nairn, in her debut at the distance, finished in 1354th place out of 2336 finishers in 12.21.08 and Kerry Mavris was 1856th in a PB time of 13.53.54.
At the Multisport World Championships Aquathon (1km swim, 5km run) at Samorin, near Bratislava, Slovakia, Gail Nicholls finished in 272nd place out of 387 finishers and 4th British finisher in a superb 47.18.
Nearer to home, at the Clacton Half Marathon Robert Foxley finished in 47th place out of 400 finishers in 1.37.05 and Dave Goosetree was 251st in 2.12.21.
At the Brutal 10k at Bordon, Hampshire, a tough off road race featuring water, mud, hills and more, Ben Usher finished in 6th place out 102 finishers in 57.03, Terri Wiley was 10th and 3rd Female in 59.18, James Dowsett 11th in 1.00.54 and Colin Langbridge 54th in 1.32.24.
Donna Milton achieved a parkrun PB at Harlow parkrun, finishing in 77th place out of 155 finishers in 30.30.
