Harlow is 75: Interview with Annalise Taylor: From New Zealand to the New Town

General / Fri 26th Aug 2022 at 09:54am

WE went down to Old Harlow to interview New Zealander Annalise Taylor.

We wanted to take Annalise back to 11,000 miles away in Auckland and look back on her early years there.

There alway seems to be a calm vibe to any New Zealander we speak to and Annalise is no exception.

In many of our pieces, we bring up the subject of home. What does the word mean to you? Where is home?

We particularly liked Annalise’s version.

To mark the town’s 75thanniversary, Harlow Council and Your Harlow have launched a project which records the diverse history, heritage, and culture of the people and groups which are part of modern-day Harlow.

The Harlow at 75 project is made up of audio-visual recordings of conversations with both individuals and groups that explores their lives abroad before resettling in Harlow.

The project reflects that we are a local but global new town and explores themes such as the definition of “Home”.

Thoroughly enjoyed the interview with Annalise--I have been privileged to visit NZ several times since reconnecting there with long lost family in late 90's--who lived in Herald Island and also Henderson--lovely country and people.
