A HISTORIC Harlow pub has just been put up for sale.
The White Horse pub in Potter Street closed a few months ago.
It was always seen as a historic landmark, where it stood right on the edge of Harlow.

It is now for sale for £500,000
As you can see from the sale details, it could be converted for “alternative uses”. Subject to planning permission.
A few years ago, the Golden Swift in Harlow was protected under legislation as a “Asset of Community Value”. This is where the very active Potter Street community may come in to play.
It is a shame in some respects. I remember walking from Perry Spring to common to watch cricket with Mum&Dad. Dad going into pub getting us all & drink & we all sat on grass watching match along with other local families. There is a upside though, least you won't have to worry about sticking to the floor of the pub!!
Never the most welcoming of pubs, and the hairy stairs, sticky floor and Moody owner never helped. How it kept going for so long god only knows
Be nice if it was updated inside and did lunches etc 😊
would make a good weatherspoons
Used to be a great local back in the days when Pauline and Eddie ran it with their son John. I last went in there about 4 years ago, nostalgia hit me as I walked in the door. Nothing much had changed, but it needed a good spit and polish. John was still there then too. In some ways, it was lovely that this little pub was just a drinkers pub and nothing fancy, there are so few of these type of pubs left. But I realise that to run a pub these days, you have to serve food and cater for all kinds.
Lin and dummie. If you pissheads didn't spill your beer over the floor it would not be sticky, and you would not have a moody owner would you .
The white horse has always been a fantastic pub ,some people's expectations are a bit high ,but you would never find a pub so friendly unlike other pubs in harlow.
It's going to b a mosque???? Why o why
Had a few good memories there, and part of the history of a potter street. And part of a potter street boy growing up and nostalgic .
