PARNDON Wood Nature Reserve has reflected on what has been a very busy summer.

In their own words:

“Wow, and just like that the Summer Holidays are finished…

It has been our busiest Summer Holidays to date and it has been amazing to meet so many new faces and watch you all enjoy the reserve!

We have had activities every day through the holidays including Safari Week, Bug Week, Butterfly Week & Crafts events, hundreds of children have attended throughout the 6 weeks, we hope they all had a great time and learnt some facts along the way!

All of our activities this Summer have been completely free of charge, we are well aware of the price of living rising and have tried to make everything here at Parndon Wood as accessible as possible for everyone who want’s to come.

Who could forget our partnership work with Roots to Wellbeing & Active Essex – It has been amazing to host our food & activitity groups here on Thursday’s & Friday’s where all families attending get staff led activities and a hot meal cooked by us on site. These sessions are truly a pleasure to be a part of and I have met so many cool people over the last year that the project has been running.

We have also hosted 3 Bat Safari events run by the great team at Essex Bat Group which have included Q&A’s and a guided walk around our trails with bat detector radios. The final one of the Summer is next Friday (sold out).

We have had three sold out Sunset Sessions events here at the reserve through June, July & August and what great nights they were, great music and a lot of laughs with a lovely crowd of people!

It has been lots of hard work for myself but I have had a great Sumer and I love opening up the gates for you all to enjoy the wonderful scenery here.

Plenty more to come this year, keep your eyes peeled for more holiday activity & events!

“Please share and spread the word as always, thanks everyone x”

Parndon Wood is a fantastic green space to check out wildlife or just enjoy our beautiful countryside and woodland areas. There's lots of activities for the children to get involved with nature and learn about our local wildlife. I find it a nice place to calm the mind such a beautiful natural spot to reflect and meditate. We are lucky to have such a nice green space in our town. The organisers do a fantastic job with the activities and upkeep. Long may it continue.
