TWENTY years ago, Harlow’s award-winning street dance company Hip Hop Pop was born at the Harlow Playhouse. Their debut performance was with a cast of just 9 dancers… now 20 years on, tens of thousands of students have enjoyed learning street dance and growing in confidence with Hip Hop Pop, thousands of whom have performed on stage, many going on to careers in performing arts, the Hip Hop Pop pro team have delivered performances around the globe for professional touring shows, they’ve celebrated award-winning moments, they kept everyone dancing and smiling through a pandemic and created memories for their members and supporters to last a lifetime.
Hip Hop Pop is ‘BUZZING’ to be able to celebrate all that they’ve achieved, in a special 20th-anniversary show featuring 120 street dancers right here in Harlow at the Playhouse, where it all started, come and join the celebrations!
Director of Hip Hop Pop, Jenny Bater-Sinclair said: “It’s been so nostalgic, recreating some of our best moments from the last 2 decades as well as creating some exciting new pieces to mark key moments in the world over the last 20 years, one of which is a piece about our lives through the pandemic, it’s not to be missed! There’s been so many incredible memories at Hip Hop Pop over the 20 years and these memories are shared by so many in our community, we cannot wait to celebrate this milestone and reflect on them together.”
