HARLOW MP Robert Halfon rose on the floor of the House of Commons to ask the new Health Secretary, Therese Coffey on what progress had been made regarding a new hospital for the people of Harlow.
The new ministers response is below.
"Project Speed' - What on earth does that mean? Currently this project is already years behind it's target date - it was supposed to be built by 2025. As it is the funding has still not been agreed!
Having recently spent some time in A&E, I feel sorry for the nurses and doctors who try so hard to look after everyone, but the facilities are just too small for the catchment area. Robert Halfon - could we have an update as to how the business case for the new development is progressing? Expected timescales would also be appreciated.
So the "project" for a new hospital in Harlow is back in the prize draw stage. You may be lucky but....... Mr. Halfon has included a new hospital for this town since 2010 and now under a new health secretary it is in doubt. Indeed, Johnson, Hunt, Javid and Hancock have all assured us it will be built and still we wait. But Mr. Halfon is still working hard for Harlow so never forget that! So if he stands again you know what to do: don't you?
puzzled had to go by the eye unit and they are do an extension on a building why would you waste money building something that you are going to pull down
I've said it before, but I will believe it when I see it. This was just another example of a of pre-election promise that has been broken by his Tory Government. I doubt that we will see it in the next 10 years - if at all.
Ignore these skeptics. You go for it Mr Halfon. The residents of Harlow need a hospital that will be inaccessible to anyone without a car. A hospital that will have a catchment area three times the one it has now with less beds than at present. And a hospital that will have a farm on its roof, presumably to grow hay for the unicorns. With huge borrowing to enable cuts for the very wealthy...borrow we as tax payers will paying back for decades, finding money for the hospitals farm may be a bit tricky. You couldn't make this stuff up...
Oh great. Another Tory "project" with some random codeword.
