IT has been a long time coming but Harlow Hospital Radio finally got to celebrate its 50th anniversary – two years late – with a 52 hour live broadcast weekend from October 7th – 9th.

HHR’s basement studio at Princess Alexandra Hospital was buzzing with presenters old and new, guests and colleagues from the hospital dropping in.

A particular highlight of the weekend was a fabulous cake presented to the radio station by the hospital’s award winning Patient Panel, which was duly shared with many staff visitors.

The weekend programming was enormously varied, to reach the widest audience and included live interviews with various PAH staff.

HHR is embarking on a project to expand its broadcasting with an internet based version of its 24 hour music and entertainment service, which will be able to be a heard not only by patients and staff using NHS wifi, but also by families and friends at home. Everyone will be welcome!
