Young people: Come and join the Harlow Youth Council

News / Wed 19th Oct 2022 at 09:33am

Calling on the young people of Harlow!

•    Are you interested in issues that affect young people today?

•    Would you like to make a difference to young people’s lives and be the voice of Harlow’s youth?

•    Are you aged between 13 – 17

If so, why not become a Harlow Youth Councillor?

Harlow Youth Council is an elected body of up to 24 young people who live or go to school in Harlow. We are looking for new Youth Councillors to join our group which meets fortnightly on Monday evenings at the Harlow Civic Centre, between 6pm and 7:30pm.

Youth Council is the voice of Harlow’s young people and works in a similar way to school councils, representing young people on issues that matter to them.  Our current projects are:

  • Promoting positive physical and mental health and wellbeing for children and young people
  • Protecting the environment and supporting the climate change agenda

To become a Youth Councillor, you need to be committed, reliable and a good team player. You will have the opportunity to develop a range of new skills that will be useful if you go on to seek further education, training or employment. You will also have the opportunity to make new friends, improve your self-confidence and work on projects that young people have identified as being important to them.

If you are interested in becoming a Youth Councillor you can fill in an application form on our website: https://www.harlow.gov.uk/youth-council
