Education / Sat 22nd Oct 2022 at 10:02am

HARLOW’S MP, Robert Halfon visited Harlow College for the 92nd time this week in celebration of Colleges Week. Harlow College is now one of the best colleges in the country leading the way for apprentices and degree apprentices throughout Essex.

During the visit, he spoke to a new year group of apprentices on their induction day, with students across the spectrum from Level 3 Teaching to Level 4 Engineering apprentices. He also met with journalist students and was interviewed by them on the importance of apprenticeships and vocational education, mental health and social media in the current times and most importantly the future of the best town in Britain, Harlow.

In Parliament, Mr Halfon also attended the Association of Colleges Reception in the House of Lords for Colleges Week, in support of their Love Our Colleges campaign.

Commenting on Colleges Week, Mr Halfon said: ‘Having visited Harlow College almost 100 times since I was elected as the MP for Harlow, I am delighted to support their work and show my passion for further education and skills.

“Vocational education is so important because it gives our young people the skills they need for the future world of work, and provides them with the support and learning to ensure they can climb the ladder of opportunity to achieve good jobs which, in turn, will allow them to achieve job security and prosperity to provide for themselves and their families.

“As Chair of the Education Committee, and the MP for Harlow, I will continue to work hard for Harlow and support Further Education colleges every week, not just during Colleges Week, to meet and celebrate with students from all walks of life.”

It's great to hear that Harlow College enjoys this national standing and always good to read of Rob Halfon's constant involvement in his constituency. Ignore the political camps for a moment; and you cannot deny the energy he devotes to his role

We need more students taking on (degree) apprenticeships. Glad to see Harlow College is leading the way here.

Robert Halfon has made a big difference in the world of vocational training and has continued from the good work done by Bill Rammell as Minister in the lifelong learning sector.
