Beat The World: Harlow musicians come together to launch World Cup Christmas song

Charity / Tue 25th Oct 2022 at 02:40pm

A GROUP of Harlow musicians have released their version of Band Aid in order to wish the England football team well at next months’s football World Cup.

Beat The World (Do They Know It’s Coming Home) was released on Sunday at a special event at the Harlow Rock School in Katherines.

The whole project was the brainchild of the Tyler family.

Terry Tyler said: “It started as an idea after a chat with my wife Katy and our boy Sonny (10) saying how weird a World Cup at Christmas will be.

Would we have Christmas lights or football flags. Would we be playing Wham or Three Lions?

We started doing the 12 days of Xmas but about England players, then Katy said…”What about, Do they know its coming home ?

I thought yes… that’s an idea. So along with Mitch, we wrote some lyrics and didn’t think it would go much further.

We asked both Kieren and Steve if they would be interested in putting something together?

Rob and Gave joined in for the fun too. Then I asked Lee.

Not knowing too many female vocalists , Steve introduced us to Annie and I reached out to Harlow Rock School. Sue led us to Phillipa, Grace and Lauren.

Our band was now formed. Eleven of us. We met up once, recorded vocals and then started adding the instruments. Mostly at home. Until we had a full track.

We sent it to Dave Wright @ musicTek for mastering.

And “Beat The World” was born.

Terry concluded: “The track has brought together old and new friends, fun & community spirit.

“Any proceeds, should there be any. will be donated to the BandAid trust.

“I am just so proud of our efforts and so grateful for all the support and love we have received.
