FRIENDS of a Harlow family have made an appeal after a fire in Ghana has devastated their lives.
The following entry has been made on GoFundMe.
HARLOW couple Steven Monroe and partner Rose Mensa had saved for a family holiday to take their three children aged 4, 7 and 9 to there native country of Ghana to meet their grandparents for the first time.
The holiday had been planned for some time and the whole family was so excited to build memories. On the final night Rose had woken up around 1 am and could smell what she thought was burning leaves.
She quickly realised the house was ablaze. With only one way out of the property, Stephen carried his beloved children through the fire to safety.
Unfortunately the grandfather lost his life.
Two of the children have subsequently resulted in 12% and 18% burns to the faces and mainly upper body areas.
Steven’s burns are unfortunately much more
As a result the family spent several weeks in Ghana hospital before being well enough to be transported back to Chelmsford Broomfield Hospital undergoing skin grafts for their burns.
Rose who is a nurse/ care assistant at St Elizabeth’s home and Stephen who is a Sainsburys worker are now not currently able to work.
As a result friends are trying to help this local family of Long Ley, who have suffered a devastating outcome to a family dream holiday.
They are trying to help the family with hospital costs help with day to day living and maybe help towards Christmas.

Money for a holiday and towards christmas?!? Really?! Were in a cost of living crisis, with sky-high energy bills! Terrible that the children were hurt, but why is the modern day response to start begging?! Were seeing this more and more often. Perhaps a new car aswell?
A very badly written article !! it looks like they are crowd funding to go on holiday !! NOT the case on re reading twice The fire happened in Ghana where they received injuries and are now back and not able to work.
Please be sympathetic to this family who have suffered a devastating loss and serious injuries. It's people's own decision whether to donate on crowd funding pages people ask for money for all kinds of things so please don't criticise them, you don't have to give them money if you don't want to .
