Football: Shock as Harlow Town FC resign from all leagues

Football / Wed 7th Dec 2022 at 05:18pm

HARLOW Town Football Club has today taken the decision to immediately resign from The Pitching In Southern League, The Essex Senior Football Reserve League and The Eastern Regional Women’s Football League.

A club spokesperson said: “As has been much publicised, opinions have been formed with regards to our newly laid 3G surface.

“We have been working very hard to remedy the issues which we have found ourselves with, we are currently in a position where no home fixtures for our senior teams can be played.

“The options presented to us are not deemed viable and therefore the decision taken now leaves us with the opportunity to properly plan for remedial actions to take place.

“It is not expected that this will be a particularly quick fix but we will do everything within our powers to resolve matters as soon as weather and contractor’s availability permits.

“We should like to thank all our respective Players, Staff, Volunteers and Supporters for their unfaltering support once again this season and do sincerely hope that you will continue to support us through this incredibly tough period and into the new seasons ahead.

“What has been of paramount importance is that the Club and its future have been at the centre of the thoughts behind these decisions.

What is actually wrong with the pitch? I thought it was new? My sons team played their beginning of season and said it was nice?

Absolutely shocking state of affairs, it’s a poor excuse for a badly run club that has been in decline over the past decade really, I’ve always thought had Harlow town fc invested time into local players who are more than capable of playing for the first team and is proven today as a lot of our players are playing for other senior teams at a fraction of the cost who would be proud to play for the town and consequently would generate more fan support and gate receipts etc.. If hopefully we manage to get a team playing again think outside the box please and see what’s on our doorstep. Peter Lucia Rouge21fc

My son plays for Harlow town FC and we have no idea of any of this until I’ve just read this article. I thought we would of received an e mail or something seeing as we have paid our memberships for the whole season

Also the above article states senior teams so guessing not the young teams but surely we would have been notified before reading these articles of any problems at the club

Why not play senior home matches away on a ground share basis? Or is there more to this than the 3G pitch?

Why not ground share with Stortford or Waltham Abbey?
