Snow comes to Harlow as sub-zero temperatures continue

2100 hrs: Updates from Harlow Council
IT HAS been a bitter weekend with sub-zero temperatures as the snow comes to Harlow.
Snow began to fall at just after 7pm on Sunday evening.
It is expected to snow until midnight.
We will keep an eye on side roads and any traffic problems over night and into the morning.

Harlow council need to get out gritting it is really bad out there especially some areas. In London they have been out gritting they need to get their act together.

Stuck on M11 since 8.30pm and still no nearer getting to Harlow. Why is it this country cannot cope with a few inches of snow? Every time we get snow, people end up stuck on a motorway all night.

Very difficult driving conditions, local roads being the worst and motorways don't fair much better. Stay in the warm. Expect Lockdown Harlow.

M11 Cambridge to J7a: 8 to 8:30pm absolutely no evidence of M'way being salted or gritted as snow increasingly settling on main carriageways. As for 7a into Harlow: a complete shambles. Snow was predicted but of course it arrived and very little (if any) preparedness from Essex Highways or our local council. Wrong type of snow Gritting lorry drivers couldn't get to the depot because of heavy snow Sunday evening is always a bad time for snow Council can't afford the overtime payments for snow clearance on a Sunday I wonder what other lame excuses will be trotted out Pathetic shambles!

Kevin , well keep voting Tory and things will keep going downhill , less money for the councils and more in the bins of private enterprise and the millionaires , by the way we are paying 50 billion to the Ukraine and we are skint so they say ????? You go to Germany and the USA and the snow plows work overnight clearing snow . I bet Chelmsford is clear as that where the Essex CC mob are based . When are you going to realise ?

Gritting should have been done, but in fairness, the forecasters got it wrong again. They forecast a light dusting!! But the met office and BBC weather centre don't seem to be answerable to anyone. May as well sack the lot of them.

Moaners out in force again especially paste and copy kim gritting does nothin when heavy snow arrives this happens once in a blue moon down south so that's why everything grinds to a halt, forecasters said 2-5 c ms possible, I think there was 11cm when I checked this morning, but it's winter and these things happen time to time.

Charlie, the BBC forecast very heavy snow for the last few days, but it was supposed to be about 1am, not 7pm. Anyway, the highways should have done it, even for a light dusting because of ice risk. Cheers.
