Harlow bin crews continue to catch up after big freeze

Harlow Council / Fri 16th Dec 2022 at 03:27pm

THE bin crews continue to prioritise non-recycling and recycling collections as they catch up with collections delayed by the severe weather.

Separate food waste collections have not taken place this week and are now suspended until after Christmas.

Food waste can be put in with non-recycling or placed next to non-recycling bins.

Separate food waste collections will resume from 28 December (weather depending). Extra food waste can be put in cardboard boxes or placed on top of food waste bins.

After today the bin crews will be back out on Monday morning. Households who have not had their usual recycling or non-recycling collection this week, should continue to leave their bins out.

Harlow Council thanks the bin crews for their ongoing hard work in the difficult conditions.

The council is sorry for the disruption, and it thanks residents for their patience while work take places to catch up with the collections.

Further updates will follow next week.

Well done to the bin crews. It's not easy to move the wheelie bins around or get down some horrendous roads. Before any comments, no I've not had my rubbish collected, I just appreciate how difficult it is.

I agree with Murtle above. Thanks to the crews working in really difficult conditions. It’s hard for me to drive my car down some of the side roads so to get the trucks up and down must be a nightmare

The crews are brilliant, they carry on in all weathers. Our cul-de-sac is awful.Rather they are safe, than my bin is emptied .

I’m not sure it’s wise to be putting food waste out in cardboard boxes and such like. Rats, foxes and the neighbours cat will be straight onto that and half the contents will be all over the road before you know. But yes, I fully appreciate all the hard work our bin crews put in all year round and more so when it’s so cold and icy outside.

I have two food waste bins (I purchased an extra one after the last arctic blast we had) so I’m okay with the food waste situation… however, will extra refuse be taken without receiving a ticket?
