THE Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) are celebrating the big achievements and contributions of small businesses and the self-employed from across the East of England.

As the largest event of its kind in the small business calendar, the high-profile FSB ‘Celebrating Small Business Awards’ are free to enter and open to all, (FSB members and non-members). There is even a £1,000 media spend from Reach up for grabs for every winner.

The deadline for applications is fast approaching though, with a closing date of Thursday 26 January for those in the East of England.

Ann Scott, Development Manager (Essex) at FSB, said: “The FSB Awards is an amazing chance to network, be recognised, and gain exposure. So don’t miss your chance to put your business in the spotlight”.

She continued: “Small and medium sized businesses account for 99.9% of the business population – that’s 5.5 million businesses with an estimated turnover of 52% of the total UK economy. Small business owners are our innovators, our economic drivers, and the backbone of our communities. It is their businesses that embody the creativity and resilience that fuels the East of England’s prosperity. Many have faced an incredibly tough economic climate over the last few years so it’s important to not just recognise, but celebrate, their achievements and contributions with the FSB Awards”.

There are 12 area finals across the UK, with the East of England event happening at Newmarket Racecourse on Friday 17 March. Winners for each geographical category will then be entered into the UK Final, which will be held on 18 May 2023 at the National Conference Centre in Birmingham.

The award has the following categories:

·       Micro business of the year

·       Start-up business of the year

·       Exporter of the year

·       Larger small business of the year

CCO Simon Girdestone said: “Years of research and development have gone into the creation of our products and it’s something we are really proud of, so it felt incredible to have that recognised. It’s certainly helped to raise our profile and increased networking opportunities”.
