Essex Women’s Trophy
Frontier Ladies 2 v 1 Collier Row
ON Sunday they hosted Collier Row in the quarter final of the Essex County Women’s Trophy.
It was a slow start with both teams struggling to get control of the game with Collier Row being limited to long range efforts and Frontiers failing to attack some good balls into the box but Frontiers opened the scoring from a corner taken by Kelly Holsworth which was turned into the the net by a Collier Row defender to make it 1-0 after 16 minutes.
Then a stoppage in play due to an injury saw Frontiers having to make a change to their goalkeeper.
Frontiers looked to have doubled their lead on the half hour mark when Olivia Worsfold connected well from a cross which rebounded of a defender and back to Ash Simonelli to calmly finish but only to be ruled off side.
On the stroke of half time Collier Row got the equaliser from a corner kick that wasn’t dealt with properly and the Collier Row forward finished to make the score level at half time.
Second half saw Frontiers on the front foot for the majority of the half with chance coming for both Oliver and Bee which were well saved by the opposition keeper but the winning goal came on the 75th minute from the penalty spot where Katie Williams stepped up and tucked the spot kick away.
After Sundays win they now progress to the semi finals on the 19th February where they will either face Chelmsford City or Toby Fc.
